Welcome! We are so glad you are considering Green Gables and hope you love your visit to historical Jefferson, Texas. We moved here in May of 2019. Marty is originally from Carthage, TX and Julie from St. Francisville, LA. We have 3 daughters, 3 sons, 2 sons-in-law, and 5 adorable grandchildren. Both of us being raised in small Southern towns, we know about the charm and hospitality that so many people crave today. That is why we moved to Jefferson.
Being only a 45 minute drive from Carthage, we had been visiting Jefferson on weekends for years, enjoying the many B&Bs and hotels, restaurants, shops and activities as a frequent weekend getaway. We always anticipated driving over the Big Cypress Bayou Bridge and feeling ourselves drifting back in time to a more slow-paced, peaceful, romantic and genteel era. Then on Valentine's weekend 2019, while staying at The Carriage House, we decided we wanted to live in Jefferson fulltime and open a small B&B. We searched for the place that spoke to us and found our home which we now call Green Gables. We immediately fell in love with its beauty, history and location, and it just felt like "home".
